Warranty
Used containers are sold by grade, and each grade carries a different guarantee. Wind and watertight units are warranted watertight at delivery, doors and locking hardware are warranted operational, and workmanship on modifications we perform is warranted for 12 months. All of this sits on top of your non-excludable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Your statutory rights
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that goods are of acceptable quality, match their description and are fit for any purpose we told you they would be fit for. Any warranty described below is in addition to those rights, not instead of them.
Container condition grades
Understanding these terms before you buy avoids disappointment on delivery.

| Cargo Worthy (CW) | Structurally sound and certified to Cargo Worthy standard for sea freight use. Expect surface rust, dents and previous repairs. This grade describes condition; it is not an offer of overseas delivery. | Yes |
| Wind & Watertight (WWT) | No longer certified for shipping but sound for storage. Cosmetic wear, rust and repairs are normal. | Yes |
| As Is | Sold in current condition with faults disclosed, priced accordingly. | No |
Surface rust, dents, patch repairs, mismatched paintwork and residual shipping-line markings are normal characteristics of used containers and are not defects.
What we warrant
- Wind and watertight units — warranted watertight at the time of delivery. Report any water ingress within 30 days of delivery with photographs, in line with our 30-day return window.
- Doors and locking hardware — warranted operational at delivery.
- Structural integrity — warranted free from structural failure at delivery for graded units.
- Refrigerated units, generators and electrical equipment — covered by the manufacturer’s warranty where applicable. Terms are supplied with your quote.
- Modified and custom units — workmanship on modifications we perform is warranted for 12 months.
What is not covered
- Normal cosmetic wear, surface rust and weathering after delivery
- Damage caused by misuse, overloading, unauthorised modification or poor siting
- Condensation resulting from inadequate ventilation — ask us about vents before you buy
- Movement, settling or water pooling caused by unsuitable or unlevel ground
- Damage occurring during transport or lifting arranged by you
Keeping your warranty valid
- Site the unit on firm, level ground as described in our delivery requirements
- Keep vents clear and ventilate the unit adequately
- Do not cut, weld or structurally modify the unit without discussing it with us first
- Keep your invoice and order number
Making a warranty claim
Email info@bordershippingcontainers.com.au with your order number, a description of the issue and clear photographs. We respond within 2 business days and will arrange inspection, repair or replacement as appropriate.
